Emmeli Rolleberg

Art Society Våga Ses scholarship holder 2021
4.5 - 27.5. 2023

Emmelie Rolleberg (b.1990) is a ceramicist based in Gothenburg, but originally comes from Söderala Socken in Hälsingland. In 2020, she received her Master of Fine Arts (Ceramic Art) from HDK Valand in Gothenburg. Before that, she also studied at Konstfack in Stockholm and Formakademin in Lidköping.

Emmel's artistry revolves around questions about how our relationship to death has changed over time, how we humans deal with grief and loss, and how religion and rituals are woven into our secular society. Through her works, she wants to understand the need and creation of rituals and spiritual objects. She reflects rituals throughout history, seeks bridges to other meanings and comments on our current relationship with death. Questions that have gained further relevance and nuance with the pandemic that affected everyone more or less.

Emmelie works with ceramics and with various ceramic techniques such as casting, sculpture and molding.
