The exhibition is the first to focus entirely on Britta’s drawings and watercolours – a lesser-known yet significant part of her artistic practice. These delicate, sometimes spontaneous and always evocative images, created largely without any intention of being exhibited publicly, are thematically closely related to her embroideries. Similar motifs recur in the works on paper, but in a new and more intimate form. Here, we follow the development of the artist’s visual language and the emergence of different aesthetic ideas. Alongside a selection of embroideries and graphic works, the exhibition offers a closer look at her work on paper and at the motifs and narratives that recur throughout her practice.
