Text from the exhibition catalog:
My first studio was the pasture with its slats raised like lances. There I sat from an early age building castles of blocks and shredded weekly magazines in peace and quiet. The memories are those of a two-year-old about how I woke up in the middle of the block ruin with bruises on legs and arms. I remember my crib and how my hand got stuck between the bars. Now and then I saw the fist against the faintly patterned wallpaper, as if the hand could dissolve into a cloud and go through the wall.
