Rebecca Jansson, Folded Wings, 2023. Pencil drawing on paper, 9 x 9 cm.
Rebecca Jansson (b. 1993) is a Swedish artist based in Malmö. She received her Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the Malmö Art Academy in 2023 and has previously studied art and philosophy in Gothenburg. In her practice, Jansson weaves together personal events with her fascination for small gestures and details, as well as the intimate interaction that can exist between artwork and viewer. She frequently employs a fragmentary narrative as a method to create meaning through pencil drawings and installations. She has recently been awarded the Edstrand Foundation Scholarship, the Malmö City's two-year studio grant, and the Våga Se Art Society's scholarship. She has also recently participated in exhibitions at Closing Soon (Athens, Greece) and Galleri Arnstedt in Östra Karup.
Alice Fyles, Gipskronan, 2023. Kiln-cast glaze made from Swedish clay and plaster, 5 cm × 6 cm × 3.5 cm.
Alice Fyles (b. 1996 in Limerick, Ireland, raised in Norrtälje, Sweden) is a ceramic artist and material researcher based in Stockholm. She holds a bachelor's degree in ceramic design from Central St. Martins and a master's degree in ceramics and glass from Konstfack. Fyles works with issues related to materiality and knowledge formation within the ceramic sector. Her work involves the collection of geological materials, storytelling, extensive material experiments, and documentation using text and photography. Her works have been exhibited in the United Kingdom, Sweden, and Germany. In 2024, she is also nominated for the 15th Westerwald Prize and the Stavenowska Prize.
Klara Wikström Regan, detail of Bon Voyage, 2023. Oil on canvas, 176 x 90 cm
Klara Wikström Regan (b. 2000) recently graduated with a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from Konstfack in the summer of 2023. Before her studies at Konstfack, she spent a year at the Gerlesborg School of Fine Art in Stockholm. In 2023, she exhibited her works at Liljevalchs Spring Salon and participated in a group exhibition for young artists at Galleri Hedenius.
In her artistic work, Klara negotiates between realism and fiction within the realm of painting. Her works explore the fictional space between human imitation and representation. By using real but inaccessible, diminished, and plastic places, such as dolls and miniature houses, she aims to delve into the moods that arise from revelation, sight, the distant, love, and death. Through her painting, Klara makes the dead dolls somewhat alive again, while their rigid and submissive facial expressions remain palpable.
