December 11, 2025 - January 31, 2026
Opening reception Thursday, December 11, 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM
In the exhibition Nature and Architecture, three of our best printmakers meet: Jenny Olsson, Mikael Kihlman, and Mikael Wahrby. With different approaches, the artists tackle the landscapes surrounding us – from vast forest environments to the sharper forms of the big city.
Jenny Olsson, born in 1973 and active in Stockholm, works with themes such as time, memories, and place. In the slower processes of printmaking, she has found her rhythm and language to depict nature, our perceptions of it, and the interaction between the two. In the same spirit, she presents in this exhibition more abstract works, where nature and experience emerge together. She has run the print workshop Tellus in Midsommarkransen since 2017, has worked as a printmaking teacher at the Royal Institute of Art, and as curator for the collections at Grafikens Hus.
Mikael Kihlman, born in 1953 in Uppsala, is internationally known for his black-and-white drypoint graphics. Light and darkness meet in his detailed depictions of environments and moments – often subtly populated by both people and animals. In addition to a multitude of scholarships and awards, Mikael Kihlman is represented at institutions such as The British Museum in London, the Finnish State Art Commission Collections, and Nationalmuseum. The starting point for this exhibition is both inner and outer images of nature and gardens.
Mikael Wahrby, born in 1952 in Stockholm, was educated at the Royal Institute of Art, where he later was a lecturer in copperplate engraving from 1994 to 2010. His black-and-white etchings depict everything from historic buildings to more subdued interiors and all have something monumental about them. Based on pencil drawings, he methodically transfers the motifs to copper plates, which are then etched in several layers. For the exhibition Nature and Architecture, he has depicted architectural art and public sculptures in the Stockholm area. Mikael Wahrby is represented at, among others, Moderna Museet, Nationalmuseum, The British Museum in London, and the Gothenburg Museum of Art.
The gallery is closed from 12/21 to 1/6
