Björn Camenius

Björn Camenius was born in 1987 in Västerås, but now lives in Gothenburg after finishing his studies at Akademin Valand 2016. Since then he has had exhibitions at Galleri Uddenberg in Gothenburg, Galleri Lars Hjelm in Karlstad and here at Galleri Helle Knudsen. He has participated in group exhibitions at North Kunstmesse in Ålborg (with Galleri Helle Knudsen), Västerås Konsthall, Västerås Konstmuseum and Galleri Thomassen in Gothenburg. 

Camenius' paintings are in a state of movement and dissolution. Like nature's cycle of the volatility of things, motifs are broken up and new elements are allowed to take over. One grows out of the other. The paintings undergo a process where the first steps are usually rejected and where the end result is difficult, if not impossible, to completely predict. Where reality is shaken by the mixture of our dreams and imagination. Memories are picked up to be mythologized, the story is distorted and becomes something new, something of its own ..
