Collection: Joan Artigas Planas
The Spanish sculptor Joan Artigas Planas was born in 1960 and graduated from his art studies in 1985. He lives and works in Vilassar de Dalt and has since 1988 taught sculpture at the School of Arts in Barcelona.
There is no doubt that the main character in his sculptures is the woman. A timeless, lonely mythological woman who in a fragile way rests on inaccessible structures or makes great efforts to overcome the obstacles of everyday life. The warm and sensual woman made of bronze dances on a rusty steel structure, which creates a great contradiction, but also a great harmony between the two parts. At first glance, Artiga's sculptures may seem simple and pleasant, but in reality they are completely personal and very complex.
