Collection: Maria Rosén

Maria Rosén was born in 1960. She lives and works in Saltsjö-Duvnäs. She has had solo exhibitions at, among others, Galleri Ekdahl in Karlstad, Eksjö Museum and Galleri Helle Knudsen.

The landscape becomes a kind of starting point when I paint because it gives a good energy to just want to break it, love it, break it off to see what happens. Constantly returning to it. Works almost exclusively with acrylic paints and chalk. I always work with many paintings in parallel. One image gives birth to another. They become like offspring, a family. Usually towards the end the crayons advance. Streaks and scratches give traces of a kind of humanity that lays on the canvas. A little chafed and lived. A lovely war against perfectionism. I see my painting as a research project where you only talk to yourself. Like a guessing game without teammates. Constantly looking for the emotional state. The unpredictable and surprising. Like playing something important to say.
