"A life in the far north shapes and influences one both as a person and as an artist. I often think that what I work with in my paintings is both memory and the present. That they are fragments from both inner and outer landscapes. From everyday life. Each day has its story, its imprint. I am also interested in painting for the sake of painting itself and see it as a kind of endless research in materials and ideas." — Yngve Henriksen
