Galleri Helle Knudsen is pleased to present Agnes Widbom’s first solo exhibition. Each year, Galleri Helle Knudsen awards several grants to promising artists in collaboration with the art society Konstsällskapet Våga Se. As a natural extension of this work, the gallery has over the years hosted numerous scholarship exhibitions, giving emerging artists the opportunity to present their work to a broad audience in a professional exhibition setting. These exhibitions have become a valued part of the gallery’s program and serve as a way to introduce new artistic voices to the art scene. Agnes Widbom was one of the recipients of Konstsällskapet Våga Se’s art grant in 2023.

For the exhibition at Galleri Helle Knudsen, Widbom shows paintings made in 2024 and 2025. The image references for her paintings come from various media, family photos, and staging her own photos. Common in the images is a human presence where bodies are rarely depicted whole but in parts, as shadows or are implied in everyday objects.

Agnes Widbom (b.1990) studied painting and film at the San Francisco Art Institute and has participated in group exhibitions at the Swedish Institute in Paris, the Museum of Northern California Art in Chico, as well as various artist-run exhibition spaces in Stockholm, Paris, and San Francisco. In November 2024, she presented a video installation in collaboration with Swedish artist Rebecca Digby at Et al. in San Francisco.
