Collection: Alexander Bäckman

Alexander Bäckman (b. 1993) is based in Stockholm and is pursuing a master’s degree in Fine Art at Konstfack. In his artistic practice, he seeks to move beyond his habitual visual language and the forms his hand is intuitively drawn to, while also embracing the intuition that arises from familiarity. He works with a symbolic visual language that balances on the threshold of the banal, an area he experiences as creatively liberating. Bäckman is drawn to small movements and fleeting moments, examining and intensifying their significance, with a focus on how seemingly insignificant gestures and encounters can acquire new meaning.
