Collection: Julius Nord

Julius Nord (born 1992 in Linköping, active in Stockholm) was educated at the Royal Institute of Art, where he earned his Master of Fine Art in 2023 after completing a Bachelor of Fine Art in 2021. He has previously held solo exhibitions at, among others, Falsterbo Konsthall, Härnösands Konsthall, Eksjö Museum, Väsby Konsthall. His works are represented in the Ståhl Collection as well as in regions and municipalities across Sweden.

Sports have long been a central starting point in Julius Nord’s life – not only through movement but also through its system of rules and the spaces where order turns into uncertainty. In his artistic practice, he is interested in precisely these gray areas, where structure and chaos meet and where something unexpected can take shape.

Nord grew up in Linköping in an environment that encouraged freedom and a spirit of experimentation. The discovery of street art thus became a natural extension of this approach. His early work took form through graffiti and figurative painting but has gradually evolved toward a more abstract expression where process, materials, and the relationship between artwork and space are central.

Today, Julius Nord’s practice is characterized by a clear connection to the aesthetics of sport – movement, rhythm, and structure – while also exploring the often overlooked beauty and subtle poetry embedded in these systems. Through painting combined with sculptural elements, he investigates how visual forms can express the tension between order and chaos, control and improvisation.
