Bengt-Åke Åkerlund (1940-2021), born in Gryt but lived for a long period in Vetlanda. Bengt Å studied at Pernby's painting school and had several exhibitions in Sweden.
Åkerlund's sincere seriousness contains both naivety and imagination, without him ending up in a state of disrepair for that reason. The pictures also bear no trace of complacency, but of a sad transience. The dusty roads, the pale light and the tender shape descriptions give the pictures a touch of strange, bittersweet sweetness, something to still enjoy with a sandy taste in the mouth.”
