In X:et Erixson’s work, there are traces of eccentric whimsy that attract me. The Kite Flyer is a piece that seems to exist outside genre labels such as naïvism, naturalism, or expressionism. Related both to ancient cave paintings and children’s book illustrations, the painting is a dream of horizon, sea, and play, intensified by a startled creature meeting the viewer’s gaze. - Carl Johan De Geer
