Elke Thönnes, born in Cologne, Germany 1960, studied at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Kassel before moving permanently to Ireland and graduating from the National College of Art and Design 1991. Her artistic practice includes painting, but she is primarily known as a printmaker based at Graphic Studio Dublin. Elke has had extensive exhibitions in both Germany and Ireland. Her work is in the collections of Ireland's Office of Public Works, Queens University Belfast, Trinity College Dublin, the National Library of Ireland, The British Library and Dublin City University.
