Joseph Davey originally comes from Sussex and studied painting at Brighton University (1999-2001) and stayed in Brighton for a few years after that. He has painted continuously since then and 15 years ago he moved to Östersund where he now lives and works.
He works from source material in his studio, almost always photographs he has taken himself. This allows him to reflect on the chosen images and the reason for the collection. It also allows Joseph's painting practice to be a contemplation, reflection, expression, and documentation of poignant moments in his life.
