Joseph Davey is originally from Sussex and studied painting at Brighton University (1999-2001) and stayed in Brighton for a few years after that. He has been painting continuously ever since and 15 years ago he moved to Östersund where he now lives and works.
He works from source material in his studio, almost always photographs that he took himself. This allows him to reflect on the selected images and the reason for the collection. It also allows Joseph's painting practice is a contemplation, reflection, expression and documentation of poignant moments in his life.
