Opening reception Thursday, August 20, 4–7 p.m.
Gallery Helle Knudsen is pleased to present a scholarship exhibition with Alexander Bäckman, Maja Möller, and Peter Andersson. Each year, Galleri Helle Knudsen awards several grants to promising artists in collaboration with the art society Konstsällskapet Våga Se. As a natural extension of this work, the gallery has over the years hosted numerous scholarship exhibitions, giving emerging artists the opportunity to present their work to a broad audience in a professional exhibition setting. These exhibitions have become a valued part of the gallery’s program and serve as a way to introduce new artistic voices to the art scene. Alexander Bäckman, Maja Möller, and Peter Andersson were three of the recipients in 2025.

Maja Möller, The Tied Knot, picture weaving with leftover/unwoven warp, 40 x 70 x 70 cm
Maja Möller (b. 1990) is based in Uppsala and is studying the Master’s program Craft! with a focus on textiles at Konstfack. Illusions and shadow effects recur throughout Maja’s work. She is inspired by various optical illusions and strives to create works in which the search for a solution is more important than whether a solution actually exists.
I am fascinated by the way our brains take in information but sometimes distort it or filter out parts of it. How we can trick our eyes and create works that seem to distort reality and cross dimensions.
