The exhibition RUNDTUR/TOUR is Tomas Gustavsson's second solo exhibition at Galleri Helle Knudsen. The environments in his latest paintings are taken from Härjedalen and places around Lake Mälaren. He often uses the landscape as a background for various scenes, where the images are shaped into stories about memories and forgetfulness.
"When I look at my latest paintings, I notice that I haven't developed much since the age of seven. I found a drawing book from my first year in school and saw that I had used the same circle of motifs since then; ships, mountains, houses, forests, and water. What is a little different since then is that it was always a blue sky with half a sun in the upper left corner. Nowadays, the sky is more purple and grey, and the sun shines through the broken cracks and scratches." - Tomas Gustavsson
Tomas Gustavsson was born in 1958 and lives and works in Västerås. He was educated at Västerås Art School and Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts, and Design in Stockholm.
Gustavsson has previously shown solo exhibitions at, among others, Galleri Magnus Karlsson in Västerås and Stockholm, Galleri Wallner in Malmö, Galleri KAZ in Västerås, and Galleri Helle Knudsen in Stockholm.
