Maria Nilsson (born 1968, based and working in Stockholm) works primarily in watercolor and moves between observation and dissolution. Nature often serves as a starting point, but rather than depicting it, she seeks a shift toward the abstract. In her images, the relationship between color, form, and movement is central. By making use of watercolor’s distinctive qualities - transparency, flow, and unpredictability - she builds compositions in which tension and balance are held in a dynamic interplay.
