Maria Nilsson (born 1968, living and working in Stockholm) primarily works in watercolor and moves between observation and dissolution. Nature often serves as a starting point, but rather than depicting it, she seeks a shift towards the abstract. In her images, the relationship between color, form, and movement is central. By utilizing the unique qualities of watercolor – transparency, flow, and unpredictability – she builds compositions where tension and balance are maintained in a lively interaction.
